Our condolences go out to the family of pro skier Jamie Pierre who was killed when an avalanche in Snowbird swept him over a cliff. Pierre and a friend were snowboarding in backcountry conditions at Snowbird about a week before the resort opens, where no avalanche work had been done. The same day 9 more human-triggered avalanches were reported around Alta and Snowbird.
