New Jersey Gets Latest National Park
By Rocky Thompson on November 9th, 2011New Jersey, that state at the front of most people’s minds when they hear the phrase “natural splendor” is the latest state to get a new national park. The decades-long battle to have Great Falls established as a National Historical Park was signed by Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar earlier this week. The park is billed as the American birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. “American” is an important modifier in this case since the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution was England. The shift to federal handling of the land will take place over the next couple years. Welcome to the system, park 397.
