I read this one in the New York Post, so it has to be true. A 40-year-old sailor and his wife had been circling the globe for three years when a stop at a French Polynesian Island went awry. The man disappeared and his shady guide assaulted his girlfriend before she escaped to alert authorities. After a few weeks of searching the island, they found a fire stacked with human remains they believe belong to the missing sailor. The island only has 2000 residents, and none of them have been known to eat people, though their ancestors did about 100 years ago. Did one of these people eat the guy? Almost certainly not. Did his wackjob guide kill him? Probably.
