The First Resort With Crap Snow to Open?

By Rocky Thompson on October 13th, 2011

People who moved to Colorado to ski are suckers. Sure, Wolf Creek Ski Area opened on Saturday and Arapahoe Basin and Loveland will open today and tomorrow, but they weren’t the first resort in the U.S. to open.  The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort says they opened 27 minutes earlier than Wolf Creek and thereby claims the title. Damn! You wasted those 27 minutes you could have been skiing when you bought a season pass in Colorado! What an awful tragedy.

Does everyone ignore the fact that people ride at mt hood year round. Guess if they don’t close you don’t have to worry about your opening date.

Did Vegas have powder? Because Colorado did. And a Colorado season pass and living would only be lame if you don’t like cheap season passes, powder, many great Parks, lift accessed back country, a 6 month long ski season, and almost any terrain you would ever expect at a ski resort. DANG, now that I put it all out there and read it back to myself, COLORADO SUCKS! why did I move here?!?! … Hood closes for a couple weeks around now BTW. Just for maintenance but they are probably open again by now.

you nailed it Ben. If you never close… you never open.

nunya beeswa: Let me guess, you copped the epic pass with the other 30 million people in Colorado. Vail’s got you brainwashed with the rest of the front range and all of Texas. Have a great time waiting in line all season bro. (All six months of it)

Nunya didnt quite pick up the sarcasm of the original post. He was mocking Vegas, not Colorado.

Why do people get so bent out of shape over hood? Hood is always recognized as the only place for summer skiing in North America. It basically stands above the whole artificial race to open–it’s in a category of its own as far as season goes. Isn’t that enough?

Meant to say “only place for summer skiing in US”
