A Ski Bum, in the Toughest Way
By Rocky Thompson on October 12th, 2011Every year thousands of recent college and high school grads head west to work for meager pay bumping chairs or washing dishes at the big resorts in exchange for a season pass and shot at a winter of skiing. But, if you don’t want to go that far west, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan resorts invite you to apply for seasonal work. How much does the Iron Range pay? About $7.40 per hour (before taxes) for instructors and lift ops, overnight snowmakers will clear $9 an hour. Brutal cold, comparatively little snow, short runs and on top of it all, low pay? As they say Up Nort, Uff Da.

Maybe you could help me out…I’m looking desperately for the news. I’ve looked all over the page and can’t seem to find it. Anyone seen it?
