The short film The Eighth Parallel takes place in the island nation of Indonesia, home to the world’s fourth largest population, yet a place where few women engage in any kind of action sports. It follows four women over the course of a year: climbers, cyclists, surfers and a motocross rider. I learned more about Indonesia in the two-minute intro of the video than I did in all of high school and college.
