Pinecone Bounty in Superior National Forest
By Rocky Thompson on June 15th, 2011I’ve heard of bounties on the heads of invasive rodents taking over national forests. You go in with a pile of carcasses and get paid out for shooting them. But what can our vegan friends do to collect some cash from the government? Pick pinecones. It seems the Superior National Forest need pinecones for their tree nurseries, and they’ll pay you $75 per bushel you collect. How big is a bushel, to give you an idea, a bushel of corn weighs about 65 pounds. That’s a lot of pinecones to haul around the forest all day.

$75 for a bushel sounds like a flippin’ deal to me. And a bushel isn’t all that huge… sure in CORN it’s 65lbs. But as a measure these hippies will understand: a bushel is about 33 nalgenes worth. Just FYI.
What hippie uses a Nalgene anymore? Haven’t they all moved to Klean Kanteens or whatever?
