Study Finds Outdoor Recreation Good for ArizonaBy Rocky Thompson on June 3rd, 2011
Surprise, an Access Fund study found that outdoor recreation is good for Arizona. It creates about 87,000 jobs and gives the state $371 million in tax revenue. And that’s just Arizona, imagine what it does for a state that’s not the temperature of the Sun for half the year. The report was completed by an Access Fun grant and conducted by two alums from legendary party school Arizona State. They found that 38% of outdoor recreation in the state required an overnight stay by visitors, and that people pump $5.3 billion in their economy, representing 12% of AZ’s total economy.
