Emergency Beacon Woes Increasing for Authorities

By Rocky Thompson on September 20th, 2010

It seemed like there were an inordinate amount of emergencies at the local K-Mart. Then the police figured out that the employees were putting batteries into the SPOT GPS emergency messengers while they were still on the shelf. People would inadvertently turn them on to test out the product and see how long it would take for a helicopter to arrive. The local Boise authorities are anxiously awaiting hunting season, because the stores in town have not been able to keep the SPOT beacons in stock. Last year they had six calls, two of which were actual emergencies. SPOT should consider writing a check to the local police union when it comes fundraising time.

Write a comment…”SPOT should consider writing a check to the local police union when it comes fundraising time.” Just want to echo that point. Hope responsible parties hear that.
