Bad News Bison

By Rocky Thompson on July 23rd, 2010

A 49-year-old woman and her 61-year-old male companion appeared to be the hapless victims of a bison attack in Yellowstone the other day. It sounded like the bison attacked them unprovoked, but a video shot by a bystander makes it clear that the duo thought they were hanging out in the Bronx zoo and not on a level playing field with bison. They approached too close, and when they did, the bison charged flipping the lady. Too bad Fox network isn’t still taking video for When Animals Attack - this video might be worth more than a sad headshake.

This is not that bad, considering someone threw a projectile at the buffalo. It appears around the :27 mark. I would be pissed to if someone threw something at me!

Watch at about :27 into the video. It looks like a stick or something hits the buffalo in the back. If they provoked that thing, they deserved everything they got…

Look even closer at the video. The stick (which appears to have been thrown) is actually tossed in the air by the buffalo itself. The woman was from Utah and reported to local media here, that the stick is what provoked the animal and that it came from a passing car. Right. It had nothing to do with…I don’t know…being too close! It doesn’t matter what “provoked” the buffalo, like Rocky said, it aint the “Bronx zoo.” Keep a safe distance from wildlife. PS…what is this “massive beast” stuff? drama.

A very, very long time ago we raised cattle.

Rule #1 - don’t jack with the bulls. Even domesticated bulls can get pretty mean. I watched a calf corner my grandfather and knock him around a bit…pretty funny when you’re a kid but not to him.

You jack with a buffalo…jeez, just a bit dumb. Obviously, it just wanted to be left alone. Otherwise, she’d be dead.
