Poaching Problem: Solved! (By Killing the Last Rhino)

Poachers have killed the last female white rhino that lived in a popular South African preserve. They used a helicopter to shoot her from the air before sawing off her tusk with a chainsaw. So basically, if you see a white rhino tusk for sale on Craigslist, use this knowledge to negotiate a fair price. Last year 129 rhinos were killed for their tusks in the preserve, and this year 136 have been killed so far. On the bright side, those numbers should take a dive next year. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot we can do besides stop using age-defying rhino tusk cream on our faces, though I suspect most of you don’t indulge anyway.

It’s a sad day for the planet…
