Denver Rivers Too Polluted for Wading

By Rocky Thompson on July 20th, 2010

The 100F heat has driven Denver residents to the waterways for a little cooling off, though sadly the levels of contaminants in many of them are too high for safe swimming or wading. A new study has found arsenic, ammonia, and fecal contaminants are up to 50 times higher than acceptable, and the city has posted warnings around some of the parks. Not a big deal though - if global temperatures continue to rise, then most of these waterways should be dry riverbeds before too long.
