Backcountry.com Athlete Greg Hill is Halfway to 2 Million Vert for the Year
By Rocky Thompson on July 14th, 2010
I don’t recall the statistic exactly, but it’s something like 1 in 10 people who make it to the summit of Everest die on the walk down. “Hey man, get a photo of me at the top, I’m halfway there!” Well, our friend and Backcountry.com skier Greg Hill is halfway there. Not actually Everest-but the ‘The Everest of Ski Mountaineering’-though I guess that tired cliche isn’t even logical here since the Everest of Ski Mountaineering would be literally ski mountaineering on Everest. No, our athlete Greg is simply trying to climb and descend 2 million vertical feet in one year. Yesterday, he hit the halfway point when his Suunto clicked over 1,000,000 feet. Congrats buddy! Check out some photos and videos from the journey on his blog.
