International Park Along Mexico, Texas Border Anyone?

By Rocky Thompson on June 17th, 2010

At the risk of wading into a huge debate that has no direct, tenable effects on my personal day-to-day life, this is the best idea I’ve ever heard. Sure, it could open up an avenue that could likely be exploited by drug traffickers or people trying to enter the U.S. (or Mexico) illegally, but it also might have the exact opposite effect. A huge International Park could be patrolled by tons of Park Service, and we could use the money they’re dumping into Border Police and The Wall to pay for the park and its staff. Visitors would create a presence of capable guardianship, and it would engender goodwill between our countries.

I haven’t heard it, but there’s a story about the topic on NPR.
