The American Hikers Detained in Iran Meet their Moms
By Rocky Thompson on May 21st, 2010
The three American hikers who wandered into Iran and unwittingly became pawns in a global nuclear/trade sanction deal got to meet with their moms after being in the most infamous jail in the country for 10 months. I’ve had hiking trips where I’ve forgotten lighters, whiskey, and tent poles, but these guys will be able to top my ‘worst hiking story’ forever. The hikers and their families are hopeful that the Iranian government will hop on the good-PR bandwagon and let the crew go back to Berkeley, but chances are their ride in prison isn’t over quite yet.
