Terrible, Terrible News for Campers: Mosquitoes Attracted to Beer Drinkers

By Rocky Thompson on April 28th, 2010

A new study suggests that certain mosquitoes are attracted to the smell of beer and prefer victims who’ve been drinking. Fortunately, drinking a lot of beer makes you care less about getting bitten by mosquitoes and encourages building really big campfires that help keep the pests away. This is less of a problem in the Mountain West where mosquitoes don’t pile up, and it’s much worse news for developing countries where malaria is a problem.

This won’t change a thing. God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy.

The story seems to be about Australian beer. I think we’re OK over here with our weaker beer. Whew!

Down here in Georgia that’s a huge deal. The mosquitoes problem can be huge. Don’t think that will stop me from enjoying a few cold ones. I’m sure I will keep getting bit just the same as when I didn’t have this knew found knowledge.

Would be interesting to know what brands they are most attracted too. Anyone tried experimenting?
