15-Year-Old Skiing to the North Pole

By Rocky Thompson on April 9th, 2010

Whatever happened to playing Tecmo Bowl and making prank phone calls?  Kids these days are doing things like climbing the 7 summits and making overland trips to the North Pole. Fifteen-year-old Parker Liautaud is attempting to be the youngest person to ski to the pole. Man, he’s going to be disappointed when he arrives and finds out Santa’s not real. He’s posting live updates from his trip on Twitter, and someone’s shooting pictures of him for a Flickr photostream.

According to his twitter feed he just quit because of ‘unsurmountable obstacles’, definitely a bummer, it would have turned him into a HUGE badass. Props for trying.

“Man, he’s going to be disappointed when he arrives and finds out Santa’s not real.”

Underrated outdoor blog quip of the day.

I think trying makes him a huge badass. How many of us even attempt that? Let along a 15 year old.
