Minnesota Builds Mountain Bike Trail for Disabled Cyclists
By Rocky Thompson on April 5th, 2010
A 1- to 2-mile loop in a new mountain bike trail being built in Minnesota will be made to accommodate the hand-driven cycles that disabled riders use. It’s a fine idea and long overdue. What’s insane about the article is how much they say these trails cost to make. They say it’ll be $305k to build the new trails. Where the hell are they spending this money? The Minnesota Trail Association is helping design the trails and they’ll be maintaining them. Unless you have to actually buy the land, making bike trails shouldn’t cost much. Just kick down $500 and use that money to buy beer for any bikers who show up to work. You’d be done in a couple weekends.

Only way I could figure it would be if they were hammerheading their way directly through thick forest and were going to have to do some serious clearing and leveling. Whenever a trail gets official I don’t think they’re referring to a windy singletrack rut over logs and rocks.
