GoLite Will Take Back Their Old Stuff

By Rocky Thompson on February 17th, 2010

GoLite announced a program to accept back everything they’ve ever sold, except for your foul-smelling GoLite shoes. The program will offer you a 20%-off coupon in exchange for any gear they’ve made since their inception in 1998. But they don’t really want it back. If you can prove that you’ve repurposed your old GoLite backpack into a reusable grocery bag or you can show a receipt from a consignment store, they’ll still send you a 20%-off coupon. They also launched a page called I’m Not Trash that offers advice on how to breathe new life into your old equipment. The reason they won’t accept back shoes is because that gear is made by another manufacturer. Not bad, GoLite. Can’t wait to see all the ‘vintage’ GoLite gear on eBay.

Great move by GoLite… except the shoe part.

If you put your name on a product you should stand behind that product.

If someone manufacturers a product and you slap your name on it, it becomes yours.

The fact that they won’t stand behind it doesn’t exactly make me want to buy GoLite shoes.

    Hi George,
The only reason we do not take back GoLite Footwear is becuase it is made by a seperate company. Thanks for your feedback!

    Best,
    Dana
