		<description>Kayaking doesn't need to break the bank. I know few paddlers who buy boats new, and they use most of their gear for several years before it wears out. It is probably on par with mountain biking, backcountry skiing, and climbing (not bouldering). Maybe your problem is swimming and losing gear every time out. 

On the other hand, I don't want more people clogging up the the rivers. It's cold, difficult, painful, and you can die a really nasty death getting beaten by rocks under water.</description>
