Pay for Your Out-of-Bounds Rescue

Duck the rope at Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia and don’t expect much in the way of ski patrol help if you blow out a knee. The resort won’t be responsible for your safety if you head out of bounds, but if you can get a hold of someone at the ticket office while lying in the snow, they might send a sled out as long as your credit card isn’t declined. The resort will haul injured skiers out of the backcountry, but they won’t pay for it. It’ll be interesting to see if this is a tactic to scare people from ducking ropes, or whether Sun Peaks will actually charge skiers who get injured out of bounds. I only know one person who’s broken leg and needed help after ducking a rope. It was at Jackson, and he said ski patrol dragged him through some shit but never said a word about being out of bounds.

Hey, that’s one of my pics from high school with Gould Academy/Sunday River Ski Patrol. This is a practice code from parents weekend, because some parents had no idea what ski patrol meant that their kids were doing.
