A Bad Weekend for Climbers

By Rocky Thompson on December 14th, 2009

Heavy snow and bad light has hampered rescue efforts for two climbers lost on Mt. Hood. Yesterday authorizes said they found 26-year-old Luke Gullberg dead at about 9,000 feet. About 30 people continue searching the mountainside for the other missing climbers; none of the lost climbers carried locator beacons.

At the Bozeman Ice Festival world class climber Guy Lacelle died Thursday when an avalanche swept him away at 9:30am. The accident occurred when a team above Lacelle triggered the small slide.
