Bathroom Hiking Rules in New Zealand

By Rocky Thompson on November 16th, 2009

A clever prankster hung these fake Department of Conservation signs all over the trailhead at a well populated hike in New Zealand. The DOC pulled down the official looking signs after a few days; presumably after people kept asking them for emergency toilets. I don’t speak New Zealand, but I’m pretty sure ‘tramping nappies’ are hiking diapers. I wonder why Backcountry.com doesn’t sell hiking diapers within my favorite product group, Food and Waste Storage.

Nice to get some publicity for the Routeburn track!
