One in 10 orders over $50 will be comped during the beta rollout of the new Department of Goods site. Fully comped, meaning that your order will arrive at your door but the charge will never show up on your credit card. Also, $200,000 worth of free gear will be given out to early adopters. Basically, you order a pair of sandals and you might get a snowboarding jacket, tent, or an extra small sweatshirt thrown into your order.
So here’s the bad news. This site (for the beta launch, at least) is invite only. It’s like one of those clubs outdoorsy people hate; the ones where there’s a guy with a clipboard behind a velvet rope. Only instead of terrible music and $12 drinks, this club is packed with really cheap gear. A lot of regular Backcountry.com shoppers will get e-mail invites, but if you didn’t get one you might be able to track down an invite code through the Department of Goods’ Facebook page.

Seems like people who wear XL and XXL always get the best gear deals.
yah. and people who look good in neon. also, this is replacing BackcountryOutlet.com.
The prices seem to be very similar to those previously on Backcountry and the outlet. Will keep looking.
