Tomorrow is Fee-Free Day at Parks. And It’s Veterans Day

By Rocky Thompson on November 10th, 2009

How did the Vets get shafted with a midweek holiday? You can’t even go out and party with your old Army buddies since you have to get up early for work the next day. At least you can take that Wednesday off and head to any National Park without paying an entrance fee. This is the last “fee free” day of the year for National Parks. A lot of state parks are also waving day use fees, and some of them are even open for free camping that night.

Actually some of the vets complained about how it was shifted either to monday or friday to make a 3 day weekend and wasn’t actually observed on Nov 11th; they felt is was disrespectful. After that they started observing it on the 11th no matter which day it falls.
