Pilot Walks Away from Plane Crash in Denali National Park
By Rocky Thompson on October 16th, 2009
The pilot of a plane that crashed into Denali National Park killing the only other passenger has been found alive. He walked away from the wreckage of the plane and covered 20 miles before arriving at a campground where he called his family to let them know he survived. He’s being treated for severe burns. The plane crash was so destructive that authorities couldn’t tell that the remains were only of one person. They’d found the burned fuselage and were only able to determine the presence of human remains. The man who died was a well-known wolf conservation advocate and scientist named Gordon Haber. A sad story, but also one of remarkable survival.

no!
that guy was featured in backpacker magazine’s “dogs of war” series.
man, i wonder what happened with the plane…it sounded like he rode in bush planes frequently.
here’s the link to the BP article if anyone’s interested. it’s a pretty good read no matter which side of the fence you’re on regarding wolf hunting.
