Arizona Climbers Rescue Portable Toilet

By Rocky Thompson on October 8th, 2009

Three Arizona climbers rappelled 80 feet to retrieve a portable toilet wedged into a chimney. Pranksters had thrown the toilet off the cliff about two years ago, and no one from the company or park service tried to retrieve it. It would have been a helluva job for the adopt-a-highway litter crew. The article is unclear whether anyone was in the bathroom when the climbers reached it, but it sounds like it was no longer full.

The climbers dislodged the porta-potty, secured it with ropes and lowered it to the ground.

Then, after a brief celebration, “the three of us dragged it up this hill and back to the road,” Broom said. They encountered a forest ranger, who arranged to have the battered bathroom hauled away.
