Backcountry Access Selling Avalanche Airbags

By Rocky Thompson on September 18th, 2009

We’ve seen these avalanche airbags before, but this is the first time that one is being made and sold by a reputable backcountry company as opposed to a one-off avalanche airbag company. I don’t know if that makes you feel safer about skiing with a backpack that could pop your head off like a bottle top, but it might. Backcountry Access will sell the Float 30 Backpack for $500, and it will be out in December. If it does well, expect to see some from Black Diamond, G3, and Mammut.
