Jerry Falwell’s University Gets a Ski Hill

By Rocky Thompson on August 25th, 2009

The Moral Majority will get to try out skiing in sunny Lynchburg, Virginia when Liberty University opens its new ski hill this Saturday. Lynchburg gets a dusting of snow each year (when the city presumably shuts down) so the Rev Jerry Falwell Jr. turned to synthetic Snowflex for his hill. The $4 million, 11-acre Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre will be the first such complex built in the U.S.; there are over 30 of them in Europe. The ‘ski hill’ will join the university’s paintball fields, motocross tracks, bow hunting, and shooting ranges.

We don’t really have Greek life here. We don’t have co-ed dorms. We don’t have these wild beer parties,” he said. “So you need to give kids a productive and clean way to enjoy themselves.”

If they think getting a fake ski hill will stop people from drinking, they might be surprised.

What about sex? Its free and productive, good exercise and with that population I am sure it would be relatively clean. Use a condom, ski on snow.

Will they allow snowboarders? Cause that would ruin the atmosphere…and the hill is too steep for them anyway.

Lets hope Andy doesn’t drink while skiing. As far as apre-ski, one day he will realize that you don’t have to get drunk to have fun - it took me a while to learn that, too.

At least their tithe money is going to a good cause, this time…
