More Pot Hauled out of National Forests in Idaho

By Rocky Thompson on August 17th, 2009

For a third time this summer Idaho police and the DEA have shut down pot growing operations located in National Forests in Camas County. The latest culled 27,469 plants from a growing stand that was located within four miles of the other two fields that had been shut down. Based on the amount of trash accumulated at the site, they guess that at least one of these fields has been in use for several years. They’ve only managed to arrest one guy who was pulled from a truck a few miles from the scene with some marijuana in his vehicle. Something tells me it took more than one guy to run this operation. Kind of a bummer for him if he just happened to be driving by with some pot. The Feds should just hold onto this product and then sell it on their own to help finance the healthcare plan. They could model the pot-selling industry off the state-run liquor program out of Utah. Why not? People are already using our land and they don’t even get to tax it.

    Why not?
Because in the first place National Forests are not for growing pot or any other commercial crop. That’s why not.
I could also argue against the introduction of non-native, invasive species of plants as well as the total disregard for fire and litter laws these growers stomp all over.
In fact, there are wildfires burning in California right now that authorities say were started by illegal pot farmers.

Yah, I saw that episode of Weeds, too.

How are we supposed to compete with cheap labor overseas if they keep killing our domestic production?

BTW, in many areas, pot was a native crop. It’s time for us to grow up on this subject. Spend our money chasing bad guys and give pot back to the (us) hippies.

yah i remember that episode too haha, i know that there are alot worse things that police should be chasing down like houses in neighborhoods making crack and meth in their garage. isnt that a little more disturbing than a natural plant that if you light up makes your worries float away haha
