The Alaska Mountain Wilderness Classic
By Rocky Thompson on August 13th, 2009
The Alaska Mountain Wilderness Classic Adventure Race is among the first of its kind. You haul yourself across about 175 miles with no help or resupplies. It takes the winner about three days, and you’re allowed to bring any means of human-powered transportation that you want to carry. The most common method is to hike and carry a packraft, but some intrepid adventurers have ridden bikes, skied, or tried using kites to drag their sorry carcasses. The Alaska Mountain Classic was started in 1982 and has no sponsors or affiliation with any outdoors organization, which is likely why no one’s heard of it. This is the first video someone’s shot of their three-day trek.
Thanks Roman
