K2 Gives Shane His Own Ski

By Rob de Luca on August 4th, 2009

When freeskiing legend Shane McConkey died in a skiBASE accident this past March, we all lost something. Shane was a friend, a father, an amazing athlete, and an inspiration to many, not to mention an innovator in the ski industry. K2 celebrates Shane’s uncommon vision with the Shane McConkey Ski, a limited-run tribute version of the reverse-camber Pontoon that Shane designed in 2004 (and that has returned unchanged every year since). Only 300 pairs will be produced, and K2 is donating all net proceeds from the sales to the McConkey family. If you have the means, we suggest that you order a pair, ski down there, and jump off something for cryin’ out loud.

Thanks, Aaron P.

This is such a great thing…kudos to K2 for doing this.

Now when will backcountry.com have them on the site?
