Carabiner Coffee Mug

By Rocky Thompson on August 3rd, 2009

I love crap like this when I’m camping but hate it when I’m back at home. Stainless steel mugs don’t work all that well when you’re trying to reheat your coffee in the microwave. Think Geek sells this stainless steel Carabiner Mug for $12. You can attach your keys to it then clip it to your belt so you’ll be ready to unlock your bike while drinking a cup of coffee. It’s a way better status symbol than using only a ‘biner to hold your keys.

Noooooo! What the hell is up with the dude wearing his cup attached to his belt loop? Does he have his cell phone on the other hip?

“Stainless steel mugs don’t work all that well when you’re trying to reheat your coffee in the microwave” - see, that’s your problem right there.

Slow news day in the outdoor world? This looks like the kind of novelty junk you’d get at a corporate retreat–only with some stupid brand name and logo on it. For the record, a faux-carabiner doesn’t make something an outdoor product, it just makes it appealing to wannabes that want to advertise.

When do you think it will be available in an Ultra-light Titanium?
    (sarcasm btw)

True hipsters find the biggest biner possible to wrangle their busted-ass apartment key and bike lock key. Sure the biner holds 2000 pounds and the belt loop holds 15 lbs but this way they’re always ready to rope in! I haven’t yet, but feel it’s only a matter of time, seen one using a locking gate.
