Boulder Park Police Finally Do Something about the Constitution

By Rocky Thompson on August 3rd, 2009

This photo comes from a Boing Boing editor who found this sign while hiking in Boulder, Colorado. The sign says, “All bags and coolers subject to search. City of Boulder Rangers and Police Officers will be patrolling this area.”

Someone needs to inform the city council of Boulder that their power does not, in fact, reach beyond the limits of the U.S. Constitution. They need warrants to pilfer people’s bags, and hanging a sign they printed at Kinkos doesn’t change that.

You know, I don’t know if “Park Police” are game wardens or not but if they are then they have WAY more power than regular police. Game wardens don’t even need a warrant to search your house.

Actually the sign has everything to do with it. When you cross the border, enter a TSA checkpoint or go to see a rock concert signs are posted. If you don’t want to consent to a search in these situations you have the option of not entering.
