New SPOT GPS Fits In Palm Of Someone Else’s Hand
By Rob de Luca on July 22nd, 2009Soon, all the people who debated buying a SPOT Satellite Messenger and decided against it will have a new, smaller, silver SPOT to debate briefly and eventually not buy. All except, of course, the ones who are currently lost/injured/dead and rotting in the woods. The new SPOT has the same tracking, messaging, and emergency alert capabilities of its older, blaze-orange brother, but it weighs about a third less and takes up less space than a pack of cigarettes. You remember cigarettes, don’t you? They’re illegal now.

Why are you dissing the Spot? I have the first generation model and like it as long as I know its limitations. I’d love a smaller version that locks onto satellites quicker. Although when I explain to people how the Spot works it seems like I’m always explaining it by what it doesn’t do. “No, it doesn’t upload pictures or specific text”, “No, it doesn’t show you where you are”, etc. But despite that, I still like the simplicity and on-line tracking that it does provide.
You call that a review? you did not mention a single one of the upgrades.
USELESS
Aww, poor baby. Wanna hear the “upgrades”? A pre-programmable message button. A cover over the 911 button so you don’t accidentally start a rescue operation. Ta da! Reviewed. Give us all a break, pal.
