Rock Thieves Running Rampant at Acadia National Park

Now that I’ve stolen all of the copper pipes out of the foreclosed homes on my block I’m going to need something new to steal. What’s that? Arcadia’s shoreline rocks are valuable? Apparently artists, schoolteachers, and people from Florida have been lining their minivans up along the trail and pulling granite slabs out of Acadia to take home. This is considered a federal misdemeanor and carries a max fine of $5000 and six months in jail, but most people only are fined about $100. Hikers also use the unique rocks to setup trail markers, which is forbidden for aesthetic reasons and people sometimes put the trail markers heading in completely erroneous directions.

    Hi Rocky,
I just wanted to let you know that it’s actually Acadia National Park, not Arcadia National Park. It’s a common mistake.

Really. I mean Wednesday he thinks Pepperdine University is some sort of on-line diploma mill and today he doesn’t know Acadia isn’t Arcadia.
