Elusive Everest Photo
By Rocky Thompson on July 7th, 2009
But what if he left the lens cap on? A Denver doctor and Himalayan Sherpa are seeking to recover the body of Andrew Irving on Everest’s North Face. This is the guy who would have shot the photo of George Leigh Mallory dancing at the summit in 1924, 29 years before Hillary and Norgay made it the top. If Irving’s body can be recovered along with his camera, then we could find out if the duo made it to the summit and shot a photo when the film is developed. Potential problems include: Finding the body, finding the camera, and finding a Photomat that’s still in business. They should just find someone who’s really good at Photoshop and they could skip the whole climb.

Irving? He must have been one of the lesser known members of the expedition. I feel like if they are looking for Mallory’s camera they are much better off trying to find Andrew Irvine.
