Sailcloth and Carbon Fiber Dry Bags
By Rocky Thompson on June 18th, 2009
Ragged Edge has reworked the normal duffel bag into a thing of beauty. They sell these sailcloth dry bags that are built with carbon fiber slats to give them some structure. They’re super lightweight and can fold down when you’re not using them to haul beer on dry ice. They’re not technically ‘dry bags’ since they come with a zipper, but they’d work well for hauling wetsuits or strapping to the side of a mule walking into the Grand Canyon. They sell for $55, which is a lot for a duffel but pretty reasonable considering the dry bag/carbon elements.

Hey Rocky this is mud from RAGGEDedge-
Thanks for the shout out! I wanted to clarify a few things tho- I have no idea where you heard/read anything about the spring loaded carbon fiber slats, because we can’t even imagine what that kind of contraption might look like, let alone have we figured out how to put them in our bags. The structure of the bags is purely from the stiffness of the laminate sailcloth, some of which is made out of carbon fiber.
And the coolest thing we make- carbon fiber wallets.
