The Camping Bar

By Rocky Thompson on June 12th, 2009

I’m going to bring one of these the next time I go camping and then loudly complain all night that it’s obstructing my view of the campfire. The Guide Gear Camp Bar is a fold-up cooler and storage unit that you’re sure to knock over while drunkenly stumbling from your tent to the bathroom. I like that it folds up in a James Bond style briefcase, but I just don’t know many people who carry briefcases when they go camping.

Nothing says you enjoy the great outdoors like extruded aluminum and cordura. I see future fodder for landfills.

This is actually a useful item. I picked one up from Guide Gear about a year ago. Although I’ve only used it a couple of times, it worked for my purposes. I used it at festivals and events as a storage spot and ‘check out counter’ for my gear sales. Be aware that the cooler area is not the best and will leak just like any other color with a zip in plastic lining. But if you’re looking for a solid table top, bar height surface this is a cool idea. Works well. It’s heavy as a biotch though, so you’ll want to save it for your car camping adventures for sure!

While, I don’t think that I would take this camping, unless it was with a huge group of people going to a truck camp. I do think this would be perfect for tailgating with a large group. I’d love to have one and I hope they come back eventually.
