Saving Climbing Walls from Mining Companies Happens Sometimes

By Rocky Thompson on June 6th, 2009

Someone call Savage Steve Holland, we need to make a movie out of this. A favorite climbing spot in Lower Town Hall, WA was posted with ‘No Trespassing’ signs after the owner took steps to sell the land to a mining company. The popular wall had always been on private land, but the owners never cared much that people would climb there. So a band of scrappy teenagers got together and approached the owners about selling the wall to them. Initial resistance fell away, and the owners gave the kids 18 months to raise the money. Just have a concert to raise the cash; I’ll design a poster for you.
