No Batteries: Pure Water (Urine) Flashlight

Hand crank flashlights are kind of stupid and annoying because you need to crank them and they don’t really put out much light. This no-battery light might seem like a better idea until you realize that carrying two AAA batteries would be a lot easier than trying to urinate into a AA-size battery. The NoPoPo lantern can be used as a flashlight or lantern and can be stored up to 10 years before its first use. The NoPoPo machine runs on fluids like beer, juice, soda, saliva, or urine. The technology might not be dialed yet, but I’m hoping that within 10 years carrying a case of beer into the backcountry would be the equivalent of carrying a generator. The NoPoPo lantern costs about $40.
