World’s Largest Cave Discovered in the Vietnamese Jungle (Maybe)
By Rocky Thompson on May 1st, 2009
Rural Vietnamese residents walked a team of British explorers six hours into the jungle to the entrance of a massive cave that locals discovered back in 1991, and now the Brits are claiming they’ve discovered the world’s largest cave. The Hang Son Doong Cave’s main chamber is about 150 meters long and 200 high, so it’ll make a nice setting for all the weddings and world record eating contests that will take place there after an amusement park is installed inside of it. Overall, the cave is at least four miles long, though they think it could be much larger as their progress was halted by a massive calcite wall.
