Leave it to the French to try to resurrect the word Xtreme. Their bike sharing program that began in 2007 and launched as a major success has become the victim of Xtremely bad vandalism and theft with more than half of the 15000 bikes requiring replacements. Velib Xtreme relies on the Velib shared bikes for more fun that people should have on grandma bikes. Those wheels don’t hold up too well after a few long staircases.
