New And Hot: 2009/2010 Roxy Mumbo Jumbo
By Rocky Thompson on January 26th, 2009
When Rossignol’s radically progressive S7 Caballero hit the site, they went out of stock faster than you can mispronounce “Cattabriga-Alosa.” So why is Jaime Krakowiak so stoked? Well, Jaime’s grinning like a pig in mud because she’s toting a pair of Mumbo Jumbo’s, the new ladies-specific rockered design produced by Roxy and currently available only to their pro team. They’ve been spotted all over the West, and people have been calling us wondering when they will arrive. The reason for all the hubbub? The MJ has the same rockered-tip-and-tail/regular-camber-underfoot design, and nearly the same (140/110/118) dimensions as the 188cm S7, and it rips up variable terrain with the same loose, slashy agility as Sage’s pro model. Should ladies feel any “all they did was make a guys ski smaller” ire as a result? Hell no, at least not according to Liz McRae of Big Sky, MT, who raves:
“The Mumbo Jumbos are incredible- the talk of the tram line! We’ve had a ton of powder this year at Big Sky and the skis absolutely rip through anything from 3 inches of fluffiness to 2 feet of wind-effected, skier-chopped pow. I love them. Revolutionary.”
and Jaime, who remarked after schralping Breckenridge:
“I felt like Goldilocks finding her perfect porridge - not too much reverse camber, not too much reverse sidecut - this ski is just right. I think the boys were having a hard time keeping up with me!”
So ladies, keep your eyes peeled and your fingers poised over the mouse button, because we’ll be getting a few pairs on special release from Roxy soon.

when will those sticks be available in the shop?
