Traffic Light Fixer for Bikes

bike_signal

An article in The New York Times quoted a study that found the vast majority of cyclists are scofflaws. Apparently it’s conventional for bikers to burn red lights and ride down streets the wrong way. As far as going the wrong way on a street—natural selection will cure that process—but when it comes to running reds, what do you expect? I stop and look, but it’s the same process I use when I’m walking down the sidewalk. Now someone’s cooked up a questionably legal way around the minor “running red lights” problem. His device relies on strong magnetic currents to trigger the weight sensors that change the lights to green. Not sure riding a massive electromagnet through the city’s a great idea, but it beats sitting at a red for twenty minutes in the middle of the night if you’re among the few who engage in that lawful behavior.
