Best Wild Animal Photos of 2008

National Geographic has their best wild animal photos for 2008 across seven categories up on their site. This one won for Best Animal Portrait, likely because the animal smiled for the shot—I think it would have won the overall if the photog could have gotten him into a Hawaiian shirt first, of course that probably would have ended like this.     wow. could have warned us that some of the other images are a little disturbing. Here I was expecting fuzzy bunnies and seal pups - and I get burning monkeys in Gabon. Yikes!
