From Mountain Bike Wheels to 700c with the Mavic Caliper Adjuster
By Rocky Thompson on October 28th, 2008
Converting your mountain bike into a cyclocross rig with real 700c wheels can be accomplished with the help of a little-known part called the Mavic Caliper Adjuster. Its lack of noteworthiness, potentially stemming from the long name, means we’ll just call it the Brake Booster, in honor of the mid-90s brake add-on that prevented powerful brakes from pushing your frame apart. The Brake Booster moves your brakes up about an inch so they’ll hit the rim instead of your spokes. Of course you have to make sure that your frame has room for 700c tires, or you could feel dumber than the guy who bought Jeep rims for his Geo Tracker. The Mavic Brake Boosters cost about $50.

I’m looking for one of the caliper adjusters so I can use an old 26′er fork on my cross bike. If you have one, contact me through my site!
