Bike Tire Commercials?

Even as I say I’d like to see TV commercials for bike parts replace those awful reality-show Chevy commercials, deep down I know I’d hate bike tire commercials just as much. Well, I don’t have much to worry about since the only time I’ve ever seen a bike commercial was during Tour de France coverage and I can’t even get that channel anymore. The tire company Hutchinson posted this video on YouTube so bloggers like me could wax philosophically about the state of commercials, bike tires, Chevy, and Tour de France coverage, and they’d get some free ad time in core markets. Well played, Hutchinson, well played. They even took the care to cover every type of cyclist highlighted in the Times’ Field Guide to NYC Cyclists.

An almost 4 minute ad… that way you don’t have to edit nearly as much to fit into a 15 to 30 second spot - brilliant! They obviously don’t sell helmets. I don’t think I’ll try riding on broken glass either, but I expect that will help the turn-over in sales. I kept waiting for Mr. Masi to run into the gal. Maybe that’s where the last few seconds off of the 4 minute mark got cut.
I don’t even want to ride my bike home now.
