Fixed Gear Bikes Will Look a Lot Less Cool After This

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Only watch this if you’re prepared to corrupt the pure vision you hold of oneness with the bike among fixed gear riders. Actually, the videos kind of funny once you get over all the giggling and male bonding.

Innov8 Ultra Floaty Trail Runners

innov8-x-talon-212

The lightweight mavens of trail running are rolling out their lightest offering yet next spring with the Innov8 X-Talon 212. They weigh about 7.4 ounces, so it’s kind of like running on clouds—clouds that are made out of screen and open-cell foam. If the Vancouver Foot Monster takes your appendages in these things they’ll stay afloat in the ocean for decades.

Nice Jacket, Does it Come in a Men’s Version?

KJUS-CIO-down-jacket

You have to hand it to Kjus for not watering down their Euro style for consumption in America. And you also have to hand it to them for making their Cio down jacket in a color other than white since grease drips from the chairlift would leave you looking like a bad Mentos commercial. Good thing the hood is green because you probably wouldn’t be able to see you friend standing against the mountainside.

Tree Yoga Multi-Sling Pushes the Already Tenuous Limits of Tree Yoga

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

tree-yoga

Tree Yoga combines the fresh smell of trees with the atmosphere of an Old West cow rustler hanging. I’d like to see a first time user dance around in one of these glorified deer stands about 30 feet off the ground. They’d either end up inventing the Death Vrksasana or becoming a pioneer in Quadriplegic Yoga. The Tree Yoga Multi Sling costs about $100, and as far as I can tell it’s a piece of webbing with a buckle. Learn to master the notoriously difficult ‘water knot’ and save yourself about $99 by making your own webbing sling.

Trendy Eproze Multi-tools Out of Japan for your Track Bike

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

eproze-select-magnet-tool

Eproze’s bike tool looks pretty handy with all those slim wrenches wedged into one handle, but you know the 15mm will strip out the first time you try to get off your rear wheel. Maybe you can match it with your Park multi-tool with the bent chain pin and the Pedro’s with the stripped out 5mm allen wrench and you’ll be able to finish a tune up.
Don’t waste your time with this garbage. If you ride a fixed gear, you’re supposed to be reveling in the fact that you hardly need to do maintenance anyway. Throw a Craftsman 15mm wrench in that $250 messenger bag and you’ll be covered.
