Fatwood for Roasting Marshmallows in the Rain

fatwood

Fatwood is a resin-soaked chunk of pine that’ll spark up underwater. It’s made for those earthy types who like to get back to nature by forgoing a Bic in favor of some complicated fire steel, but Fatwood also works with conventional camp-stove fire starting methods used by unsafe campers like me. The stuff is only $2 for a half-pound bag,. so you could afford to burn this stuff like normal firewood, just don’t inhale too much of the ressy.

  1. 1 Bjornar

Fatwood makes the most unskilled camper look like the Grand Wizard of Boyscout campfire lighting. If the kindling works so well for buring, just think of what a cord of this wood would be like for your next bonfire. Of course you’d want some oak in there somewhere or you’d have about a 5 minute Satan-powered blaze and then darkness.
